Jan Leeming is one of Britain’s most respected newscasters, with an much admired reputation of total professionalism and credibility.
Her early life was spent in New Zealand and Australia where she appeared on both stage and television. In fact, Jan was the first woman newsreader on Australian television appearing in Sydney in 1963.
At the end of 1966, Jan returned home to take up a post as Newsreader for Granada Television. Since then her career took off. For six years Jan presented her own women’s programme ‘ Women Only’ for HTV, whilst at the same time, co-presenting the nightly news programme ‘Report West’. This was followed with two years presenting the BBC daytime magazine programme ‘Pebble Mill’, concurrent with several documentary series on food, also for the BBC.
Jan was called upon to present the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ in 1982 and then spent seven years as a newsreader for the BBC. Twice voted Newsreader of the Year by the Television and Radio Industries Club TRIC, Jan also won the Pye Award as Television Personality of the Year in 1982.
Jan is in constant demand for corporate work, including videos, hosting company conferences, and Product Launches. She is a natural and wholly professional communicator and is regularly asked to coach managers on their presentation technique.
